The parish family of St. James-St. George Episcopal Church believes that part of its mission to love as Jesus loves is to help care for God's children. We do this by following Jesus' directive to help those who are less fortunate than us. At Thanksgiving, we give thanks by donating baskets loaded with traditional Thanskgving foods to local families in need. At Christmas, we give hundreds of gifts to local families in need so that their children may enjoy a Merry Christmas. These events are coordinated through local charities and organizations that assist these families; please do not contact the church directly for assistance. We will refer you to a community resource for assistance.

As part of our mission to love as Jesus loves, we have on-going collections for various items.
- Clean and gently used clothing and household items. These items are given to the Angel Attic of The United Neighborhood Center on Vine Street in Scranton, PA. The Angel Attic is open to anyone who needs these items; they are invited to shop without cost. Everything is free.
- Soda tabs. Soda tabs are given to St. Jude's Hospital to help defray the cost of dialysis for children.
- Canned goods. These items can be donated directly to our Church for use in our monthly food pantry.
